THE ARTIST

THE ARTIST

WHO IS RYDER

WHO IS RYDER

There is one small moment where you can capture everything, all at once, and take it all in. When you are still. Slowing down has become one of the hardest things to do in a world built for speed, and with it, we are losing our ability to create, to watch, to truly observe. The only time I am ever fully still is when I am creating or, when I am observing.

The only time I am ever fully still is when I am creating or, when I am observing.

I am not an artist. I am an observer of the world when it finally moves slow, when it finally sits still. I didn't grow up wanting to hold the brush, I didn't see myself sitting in front of a canvas, I was drawn to watching what unfolded before it moved. That is where it begun.

I was given a gift I didn't ask for: not the hand of an artist, but the eye of an observer. To sit and watch. To wait. To listen. To be quiet when the world is loud, and still when the world is running. This has always been my nature —to stand slightly outside of things, watching closely while everyone else moves on without looking.

This is my version of doing. Not the doing of everyone else — the moving, the rushing, the producing — but the watching. This is my art, this is how I share the powerful gift of observation and the slow pace of the world. It is made for the patient, not the hurried. For the one who stops, not the one who passes by.

I hope you are able to use my art to slow down, even for just a moment. I want each piece to hold its place in a room the way stillness holds its place in a fast world — quietly, but unmistakably. No matter how quickly you are moving when you find it, I want it to be the thing that makes you finally be still for just a moment. Enjoy.
